Suno prompts for Neo-Soul.
Loose drums, extended chords, human timing
Figures are aggregated from 22 neo-soul blueprints built with Suno Prompt Machine. Musical values only — nothing identifying anyone who made them. The R&B & Neo-Soul Blueprint Pack collects finished blueprints in this territory.
Neo-soul is defined by harmony and feel rather than sounds. The chords are extended — ninths, elevenths, thirteenths — and the drums sit deliberately behind the beat, with a live-room looseness that quantised programming destroys. Suno defaults to tidy, on-grid soul unless you ask for the drag. Instrumentation is warm and largely acoustic or electro-mechanical: Rhodes or Wurlitzer, fingered electric bass, brushed or lightly swung drums, occasional horn or guitar answer.
The key insight: Ask for the timing, not just the instruments: "drums sitting slightly behind the beat with loose live-room feel". Then name the chord extensions — that is where the genre actually lives.
